On April 6, onion growers in Changcheng Village, Xincheng Town, were racing against time to transplant onion seedlings while soil moisture was ideal.
As a key agricultural hub, Xincheng Town boasts the largest onion cultivation base in northwest China, with its produce recognized as a National Geographical Indication Protected Product. In recent years, the town has actively encouraged farmers to expand onion planting. Decades of development have forged a complete industrial chain covering R&D, seed production, cultivation, logistics, and global sales. These homegrown onions, now exported worldwide, have become a pillar industry driving local prosperity.
