Jiayuguan Pass is the western starting point of China's 10,000-mile Ming Great Wall. 'Jia' means beautiful and nice, and 'Yu' means valley, and a beautiful valley, Jiayuguan Pass, has appeared on the vast Gobi in the north-west.
